Course Description
Growing exceptional dahlias is only the beginning of the journey. This hands-on series focuses on three essential skills every dahlia enthusiast should master: digging, dividing, and storing. Join instructor Pat Looney for an interactive series that will explore the latest techniques and best practices for storing, sharing, and showing dahlias. Learn practical, up-to-date methods that improve plant health, increase propagation success, and preserve valuable cultivars while gaining the confidence to exhibit blooms successfully.
Class will include preparing exhibition-quality blooms and how to enter and exhibit blooms at the Southwest Idaho Dahlia Show at JUMP on September 26.
Participants will also create a small ephemeral flower carpet, inspired by the floral carpets used during festivals and special celebrations in regions of Mexico, demonstrating how flowers can be shared as expressions of art, culture, remembrance, and community.
Whether you are a complete beginner, first-year grower, or an experienced exhibitor, this session offers practical ideas and proven techniques to help you make the most of your dahlia garden. Come prepared to learn, participate, and leave with greater confidence in storing, sharing, and showing dahlias for seasons to come.
