Course Description
Every death in our community deserves an answer. This course offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the many roles of the Ada County Coroner's Office. Students will learn the ins and outs of a medicolegal death investigation - from the investigation of a death scene to the forensic autopsy and how cause and manner of death are ultimately determined. Gain insight into how the coroner’s office functions as a vital public safety partner by serving and supporting the community. Whether you're curious about forensic science, considering a career in death investigation, or simply want to understand an essential but often misunderstood public service, this class will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the people working quietly to protect and serve the living through their care for the dead. Actual crime scene photos will be studied; some graphic images will be shown.
Age 18+ NO EXCEPTIONS! No photographs or videos permitted.
Final class includes a walking tour of the facility (lots of walking and standing- wear comfortable shoes!)
